The conflict started out on a compelling note, with Lance marshalling his forces against Team Arrow and Ollie hoping to have a face-to-face with Maseo. Ollie pretty much reached the Dark Knight Rises phase of his relationship with the police, except that he doesn’t have a military-grade hovercraft to get him out of sticky situations. This week we saw how badly his crusade could falter when the police were actively working against him. Eventually, his heroic deeds were enough to convince the SCPD to turn a blind eye to his nocturnal activities. Over the past three years, the Arrow has only really been able to function in Starling City because the police allowed him to do so. Maybe the show could have done a better job of building to this point over the long run, but at least the end result is paying off.
